Our 12PM showtime features: \nNATURALLY NATIVE (1998) | Directed by Valerie Red-Horse Mohl & Jennifer Wynne Farmer \nMs. Mohl’s first narrative feature starring Native American women\, also fully financed by a tribe\, follows three sisters who enter the business world by selling a homegrown line of cosmetics based on traditional tribal remedies. In-person conversation with Ms. Red-Horse Mohl directly following the screening. \nPlease note: Other showtimes in the day’s program require a separate ticketed entry. Guests must RSVP and possess a ticket for each screening time to attend each of the screenings. \nABOUT THE FILMMAKER\n\nValerie Red-Horse Mohl of Cherokee ancestry\, is the owner/founder of RED-HORSE NATIVE PRODUCTIONS\, INC. which is a preeminent collaborator with Native American Indigenous tribal nations to bring important Native American stories accurately and respectfully to the screen. Red-Horse Mohl is a veteran producer/director/writer whose body of work spans over three decades of film and television content creation and production; always providing insightful\, sensitive and unique perspectives for both the historical and contemporary indigenous story. Over her career Red-Horse Mohl has produced/directed/written over 20 Native American themed programs for television or film and her most recent project (in a third collaboration with Gale Anne Hurd/Valhalla Entertainment for Vision Maker Media/PBS) is MANKILLER\, the award-winning biographical feature documentary about Wilma Mankiller who was the first female elected Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation. The Company’s premiere narrative feature film\, NATURALLY NATIVE\, was an official Sundance Festival selection\, which Red-Horse Mohl wrote\, produced\, co-directed\, starred in\, and distributed. Red-Horse Mohl followed with the WWII PBS/ITVS award winning feature documentary “TRUE WHISPERS: THE STORY OF THE NAVAJO CODE TALKERS”\, produced with Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Entertainment in their inaugural partnership. Red-Horse Mohl also produced/directed the “prequel” follow up program\, again with Hurd\, CHOCTAW CODE TALKERS regarding the Code Talkers’ involvement in WWI (Vision Maker Media/PBS). Other notable projects include DIVERSITY IN THE DELTA\, POP HUNTER’S DEW DROP INN\, WINDOWS ON MARS\, LIVING VOICES and a cutting edge Native American cooking show featuring master chef Loretta Oden. As a writer Red-Horse Mohl penned the Emmy award winning MY INDIAN SUMMER (CBS) and AFI’s LOOKS INTO THE NIGHT in which she also starred as lead actress. Red-Horse Mohl is a member of the Directors Guild and Screen Actors Guild\, was inducted into the NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) Hall of Fame in 2008 and was recognized in 2022 as one of the Bay Area’s Most Influential Women. \nIn addition to her entertainment expertise\, Red-Horse Mohl is also a financial professional currently serving as the Deputy Chief Investment Officer (DCIO) for Responsible Investing within the New York City Comptroller’s office overseeing the five pension funds of New York City; the current AUM (assets under management) of these pension systems is approximately $326 billion. She previously served under the Biden Administration as one of the 25 inaugural members of the U.S. Treasury Advisory Committee on Racial Equity (TACRE)\, appointed by Secretary Janet Yellen. Previously she was the Executive Director/CEO of Social Venture Network and the CFO/CIO of the East Bay Community Foundation. Red-Horse Mohl is also CEO/founder of Red-Horse Financial Group\, Inc.\, she holds ten FINRA securities licenses and has raised/structured over $4 billion in capital for Native American Indigenous Tribal Nations. She serves on the Advisory Board of Stanford University’s Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity where she teaches an undergraduate course on Entrepreneurship for Sustainability and Social Impact. Additionally\, she serves as Board Chair for the National Boys and Girls Clubs Native Services. She is an enrolled member of the Texas Band of Cherokee (a state recognized tribe). She has been married since 1982 to former NFL professional Curt Mohl\, and the couple has three adult children and three grandchildren. She is a small group leader at Crosswalk Community Church in Sunnyvale and is a huge sports fan\, especially football\, golf and beach volleyball. She currently is bi-coastal\, splitting her time between Silicon Valley and Manhattan.
