SUMMARY:ARRAY FIELD TRIP: Resources + Resistance Makers Lab
DESCRIPTION:HOORAY! THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL!\nFIELD TRIP ANYONE?\nJoin ARRAY for a hands-on learning “field trip” to Octavia Lab\, a cutting-edge creative hub at the Los Angeles Public Library’s Central Library\, built to empower artistic expression through access to free resources. Named in honor of Octavia Butler\, a visionary author whose writing has shaped present day art across all mediums\, this lab offers state-of-the-art tools dedicated to fabrication\, preservation and story-telling technologies. \nCreativity is more than an outlet for expression—it is a powerful tool for resistance. By harnessing the resources at Octavia Lab\, attendees can challenge conventional narratives and center voices that have long been ignored. Whether you are starting a podcast\, practicing art making\, or interested in digitally archiving family heirlooms or other historically significant items\, you are part of weaving together the memories that will be preserved for our collective future. \nAs we celebrate Women’s History Month\, we pay homage to the legacy of women who have used radical imagination to defy boundaries\, envision futures\, innovate and shape our world—including Ms. Butler. ARRAY and the Octavia Lab invite attendees to create in ways that honor identity\, culture\, and resilience. This program connects to past creative practices that have been integral to social movements\, while offering a space where art\, technology\, and activism intersect. \nWe hope you will participate in this day of discovery as we embrace inspiration in all its forms and explore tools that can help bring your voice to the world. \n“There is nothing new under the sun\, but there are new suns.”\n― Octavia E.
