SUMMARY:EARTH SEED (2024)
DESCRIPTION:ARRAY presents “Landings: Sowers on Screen” a film program centering documentary works by and about Black\, brown and Indigenous communities and farmers\, exploring relationships to land as sources of survival\, resistance and liberation despite struggles against environmental racism. Our 1:30PM showtime features: \nEARTH SEED (2024) | Film by Fox Nakai\, Jocelyn Jackson and People’s Kitchen Collective \nLed by People’s Kitchen Collective\, EARTH SEED centers a pilgrimage through California from present-day Los Angeles to Mendocino Woodlands that happened from March – June 2023. The traveling group visited with people and places building models for survival and our collective future. Rooted in Octavia Butler’s Parables series\, the legacy of the Black Panther Party for Self Defense\, and the diaspora of the global south\, EARTH SEED enacts radical hospitality as a survival practice. \nPlease note: Other showtimes in the day’s program require a separate ticketed entry. Guests must RSVP and possess a ticket for each screening time to attend each of the screenings. \nPLUS\, come ready to shop your values at Prosperity Market\, a Black woman-owned farmers market on wheels\, that is rolling up to our Creative Campus for the day!  \nABOUT THE FILMMAKERS\nPeople’s Kitchen Collective (PKC) works at the intersection of art and activism as a food-centered political education project. Based in Oakland\, California\, our creative practices reflect the diverse histories and backgrounds of our crew. Written in our families’ recipes are the maps of our migrations and the stories of our resilience. It is from this foundation that we create immersive experiences that honor the shared struggles of our people. We believe in radical hospitality as a strategy to address the urgent social issues of our time.
