Newton. In addition to evincing Ms. Varda’s fascination with her adopted surroundings and her empathy\, this perceptive short is also a powerful political statement filmed during the summer of 1968. \nABOUT THE FILMMAKER\nAgnès Varda (1928–2019) was a Belgian-born\, Paris-based filmmaker known as a “godmother of the French New Wave\,” who created a unique\, mixed-media filmography of fiction\, documentaries and art installations. Starting as a photographer for a theater\, she directed her first film\, LA POINTE COURTE in 1954\, which ignited the New Wave movement. Ms. Varda’s influential career spanned over 60 years. \nScreenings of THE BLACK PANTHERS: VANGUARD OF THE REVOLUTION (2015) and BLACK PANTHER (2018) are also included in the day’s program. Please note: Each film screening will have a separate ticketed entry. Guests must RSVP and possess a ticket for each film in order to attend any of the three film screenings.
